Scott's Birthday in Castleton

For Scott's 26th birthday I took him to Castleton. Castleton is very small, but has an enormous cave which we explored.

The sound isn't great because it was really windy.

Christmas in Paris

I spent the last few weeks making this really cute video about mine and Scott's trip to Paris. But, after many unsuccessful attempts, I have not been able to convert it from its project file to a movie file. I have my theories why it didn't work...probably something to do with some very liberally downloaded music.

Oh well, I'll try again later. But I do have some great pictures and video clips. Enjoy!

We started Christmas Day with an early morning Skype chat to our families and then, breakfast!

Winter in Newcastle

There was quite a bit of snow in Newcastle this winter. Not 'a lot' like Ottawa, but a fair bit. Apparently snow at this time of year is very unusual. Here are some pictures of the first snowfall as seen from my bedroom window.

I put some seeds out for this little guy.

Luckily there were Christmas markets with hot mulled wine to enjoy and take the chill off. Scott and I stopped there on the way to the bridge with Kadda, Santiago and Hernan.

On another day, Bee and I walked up the stairs of the Baltic, an art gallery, on a bright sunny day to admire the view.

 

Before the end of classes, our program had a Christmas party (co-organized by yours truly). :) In the picture from left to right are: Maria, Abbey, Lena and me. We're all doing the public relations program. 

This is the present I sent home to my family. His name is Sir Owen (after Micheal Owen) and he was sent bearing hugs. He was fun to make too!

Angel of the North with Kadda and Bee

I haven't updated my blog in awhile because I've been studying and working and while that's all well and good, it doesn't make for very good pictures.

A few weeks ago, before all the snow arrived in Newcastle, Kadda, Bee and I went to go check out the Angel of the North. It is a really big steel statue and tourist attraction.

The statue is exactly how you would imagine it. It was nice to see, but we got bored of it pretty quickly.

Luckily, I had my camera so our visit to the angel turned into a photo shoot!

Bee is a dentist and PhD candidate. But even more impressively, she's a climber - rocks, trees, you name it, she'll climb it. :P

Kadda and Bee are roommates. :)

My turn to climb the tree! I didn't make it very far. But I sure tried!

Kadda is going to be an excellent teacher. As you can see, she's authoritative and fun!

It was a lovely afternoon for a photo shoot. And now we can check off the Angel of the North from our 'must see' list.
